Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool is set to benefit from the UK's first children's health park, with the £288m project on course for a 2014 opening.
To take advantage of the new facilities, Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is understood to be seeking a PR agency to support its publicity and fundraising efforts.
It is thought the trust is talking to four agencies, to promote its fundraising needs and activities to media and business audiences.
Despite seeing more children come through its doors than Great Ormond Street Hospital, Alder Hey has a lower profile than the London children's facility and raises less money in charitable donations.
More than a decade ago Alder Hey hit the headlines over an organ scandal, which saw the hospital retain the hearts and organs of children who had died at the hospital without parental consent.
Alder Hey was unavailable for comment.
