Online travel agent ebookers has switched its IR, corporate and financial PR from GCI Financial to Cubitt Consulting in a reputed pounds 150,000 deal.
Cubitt takes over the account in mid-February when GCI Financial's notice period expires.
'They needed international delivery of financial, corporate and IR and we could provide a more integrated service,' said Cubitt partner Noga Villalon.
But GCI Financial managing director Alex Mackey said the agency was not prepared to enter into a price war for the ebookers account: 'We are not prepared to reduce our fees to the low level of some of our competitors,' he said.
ebookers IR head Oliver Strong admitted it had cut its IR budget, but said this was because it had combined US and UK operations.
Cubitt's US affiliate, Broadgate, will handle ebookers' American IR.
Agency managing partner Simon Brocklebank-Fowler joins Villalon on the account. They will report to Navneet Bali, ebookers chief financial officer, and Strong.
Cubitt will provide strategic corporate communications and IR consultancy and analyst and media relations in the business and technology media.
ebookers retains Text 100 and Burson-Marsteller, among others, for its consumer PR.
The company operates in 11 European countries and reported sales of pounds 57.1m in the three quarters ending September 2000.
