The funeral of Michael Joyce, founder of PR company Michael Joyce Consultants and a former chairman of the PRCA, took place last week. He died on 7 July at the age of 88.
Speaking to PRWeek, Hewer said of Joyce: 'Everyone who has worked with him calls him a gentleman of the industry. He was respected with affection and that doesn't happen very often.
'Michael was always full of enthusiasm and a man of great luck. He once bought a £50 raffle ticket from the Variety Club and won an aircraft.'
Hewer bought Michael Joyce Consultants in 1966 and Joyce stayed on as a consultant. The consultancy then went on to win the Amstrad PR account in 1983 and it was during this time that Hewer first came into contact with Lord Sugar.
'Michael was a wonderful chap to work with and we never had a cross word from 1966 to 2011. How often can you say that about colleagues? He will be sorely missed,' said Hewer.
