City & Corporate: Stockwell in partner hire

Maitland partner Anthony Silverman is joining Stockwell Group as its first new partner since the group was established earlier this year.

Silverman will reunite with Philip Gawith, former chief executive of Maitland and co-founder of Stockwell.

At Maitland Silverman advised companies including Cable & Wireless Communications, Close Brothers Group, ICAP, Man Group, SVG Capital and UK Financial Investments.

Julian Hanson-Smith, co-founder of FD and chairman of Stockwell Group, said: 'Anthony has significant experience as a strategic comms adviser.'

Silverman joined Maitland in mid-2007. Before that he spent two years at Powerscourt and five years at Finsbury.

Stockwell's other founders are Tim Burt, a former partner at Brunswick, and Nick Boakes, former comms director at Friends Provident.
