Weekend Journal targets interests of senior players

Wall Street Journal Europe is relaunching its weekend lifestyle coverage to be more targeted at the interests of senior executives.

Wall Street Journal Europe is relaunching its weekend lifestyle coverage to be more targeted at the interests of senior executives.

'It will have a 'magazine-y' flavour, very personal,' said the paper's editor Fred Kempe. 'Some of the competition is perhaps a little more highbrow but a bit less useful.'

From 2 March, the Weekend Journal will concentrate on practical advice on investments, leisure time, business travel and analysis of trends such as job-hopping. There would also be more profiles of CEOs, Kempe promised.

The Dow Jones daily business paper sees continental Europe as a crucial battleground in the fight against rivals such as The Financial Times.

The editor of Weekend is Jim Ruane. Other section heads are Joe Wrighton on personal finance and Paolo Prada on travel.
