British Olympic Association chooses Pitch to handle 2011 BT British Olympic Ball

The British Olympic Association has appointed sports comms specialists Pitch to handle a targeted consumer and lifestyle campaign for the 2011 BT British Olympic Ball.

The ball acts as a celebration of Britain’s Olympic talent as well as an important fundraising event for the BOA to support the UK’s current and future Olympic athletes.

This year’s event, which will be hosted at Kensington Olympia on Friday 7 October, will see more than 2,000 guests attend and will include a headline performance from singer Sir Tom Jones.

The BOA has turned to Pitch, which worked on the 2010 event, for a consecutive year to deliver a campaign to raise the profile of the event.

Commenting on the appointment,  Pitch CEO Henry Chappell said: ‘Media appetite for London 2012, and any events associated with Team GB, has increased dramatically over recent months. As a result, we expect interest in this year’s ball to build on the triumph of 2010, which will enable the agency to deliver more fantastic results for the BOA.’

Described by Hello! Magazine as the ‘Ball of the year’ in 2010, guests included Prince Harry and Zara Phillips along with a host of British Olympians and sporting celebrities. This year’s ball will see a number of Team 2012 Olympic hopefuls joined by celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment.
