He told the media stories about Jimi Hendrix, Salvador Dali, Dean Martin and Johnny Depp. Sounds like he's come a long way since his days of recreating executions to entertain an audience.

2. Every birthday should be celebrated with a cake, or so thinks Sound Off For Justice. The campaign group gathered outside Parliament last week to protest against proposed reforms of legal aid. It cut up a Magna Carta-themed cake for Justice Secretary Ken Clarke ahead of his 71st birthday. Let them eat cake.

3. Think PR is stressful? Spare a thought for the comms team at P&O Ferries who dice with death daily just to reach their office. The Dover Mercury says a pony-eating black panther is on the loose and was last seen near P&O Ferries HQ. 'I am sometimes accused of being melodramatic, but the headline I've written for our staff magazine is, if anything, understated,' says head of press and PR Brian Rees. It reads: "Panther terror for Dover staff."
