Voluntary Sector: The Week in Charities

Redyellowblue has been appointed to advise new radiotherapy charity ACORRN (Academic Clinical Oncology and Radiobiology Research Network).

ACORRN was established in 2005 to enable medical professionals to share their experiences online. The agency will help to build awareness among the general public in order to raise funds to bring UK radiotherapy treatments in line with the rest of Europe.

Bright One has launched BrightWork, a micro-volunteering app for charity tasks. BrightWork allows charities to have projects and tasks including PR, marketing, social media, design, multimedia and copywriting completed for free online by a global volunteer community.

The Charities Aid Foundation, the PRCA and the CIPR are heading up the judging panel for a competition to win £1,500 worth of broadcast PR. The competition is open to any registered charity and is being run by broadcast PR specialist Shout Communications. To enter, a charity should give an outline of its next campaign and explain how it would benefit from the prize.

Kidney Research UK has signed up EastEnders star Stefan Booth as its latest brand ambassador. Booth lost his mother, Michele, to polycystic kidney disease last month.
