Syco, with offices in London and Los Angeles, is the entertainment venture between Simon Cowell and Sony Music Entertainment. The company is behind the BAFTA award-winning The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

As part an overhaul to support international expansion, Syco’s global head of media Ann-Marie Thomson is now working out of the company's LA offices and will focus on heading up PR for The X Factor in the US, set to launch later this year.

As a result, Syco’s music division has brought in Hackford Jones’ Simon Jones to oversee PR for the company’s entire roster of music acts, which include Leona Lewis, One Direction, Alexandra Burke and Susan Boyle. Acting as consultant for Syco Music, Jones will be working with the individual artists and their external PR agencies.

Commenting on the appointment, Jones also revealed that Hackford Jones has set up a new online music division. Previously, the agency had focused solely on print PR for music artists. Launch clients for the new online practice include One Direction, Jedward and Blue.

Meanwhile, Syco’s TV division has appointed consultant Polly Ravenscroft of PR Squared to oversee the UK television shows and tours including The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.

Russell Eslamifar has been promoted to promotions and PR manager to work across Syco TV and Syco Music, co-ordinating campaigns on both sides of the company.

Syco's recently appointed chief operating officer, Charles Garland, said: 'I'm delighted to announce these new key players in Syco's teams all of whom are integral to company's international expansion and our continued investment in new formats and development.’
