Former top government comms man Matt Tee was a bit peeved last week when ministers announced plans to shake up Whitehall comms.

Not only did Francis Maude and co ignore a number of proposals made by Tee in his recent report, they couldn't even be bothered to tip off the former permanent secretary for comms about their conclusions. A certain PRWeek journalist was ligging at the Cannes Festival last week, but failed spectacularly in the sartorial stakes. Having been invited to a lunch by Alec Samways and Andy Bellass of Splendid at a posh Palme d'Or eaterie, the hack in question was refused entry owing to his dodgy combat shorts. The maitre d' supplied a large pair of 'suitable trousers' to said correspondent, who then had to brave fellow diners while resembling 1980s rapper MC Hammer ...

Finally, Lee Bloor of Label PR has been in touch about a press release. He writes: 'Apologies, please find attached an amended version of the release. Please refer to The Castlefield Clinic as a "spa and beauty enhancement provider" as opposed to cosmetic surgery.' Presumably, Lee hasn't yet seen his client's website, which boasts of 'one of the UK's best cosmetic surgery teams'. Oops!
