20 June - Security firm BitDefender has produced a study of worldwide malware and spam trends during the past six months. China produces and hosts 31 per cent of malware ahead of Russia with 22 per cent. Apparently, the countries most affected by malware were France and the US. BitDefender also predicted that mobile malware will have increased four-fold as cyber-criminals seek to target smartphone owners.

20 June - The Icann board has approved the new gTLD program, which will expand top-level domains to allow firms, organisations and cities to turn their own brands into domain name extensions. Think Adidas, Facebook, etc. According to Icann, newly introduced gTLDs may change the way people find information on the internet and how businesses plan and structure their online presence.

19 June - Several 'gray-hat' hackers are mounting an effort to unmask the persons behind Lulz Security (LulzSec), the group responsible for a rash of brazen attacks and breaches over the past month. Among the cyber vigilantes are The Jester, who has previously attacked Wikileaks and 4chan, and a group calling itself Web Ninjas.
