UK technology PROs react to US tweet gaffe

UK technology PROs have criticised the US-based PR agency boss who lost a client last week after a rogue tweet.

The Redner Group's founder Jim Redner was responding to negative reviews of his client's computer game Duke Nukem Forever. He tweeted: 'We r (sic) reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn't based on today's venom.' The tweet led the games publisher Take 2 to drop the US agency.

Firefly associate director Ana Mangahas said this would not happen here: 'In the UK, interactions with journalists go from the boardroom to the pub.'

Mark Jackson, group head, corporate at Lucre, added: 'Good PROs should prepare clients for negative reviews, not blacklist journalists.'
