Computer software group Novell has consolidated its global comms strategy, appointing the Porter Novelli Convergence Group to handle UK PR.
Earlier this year, Novell appointed Porter Novelli to handle its corporate and product PR in the US, with reported fees of pounds 1 million (PR Week, 17 March).
The UK account, which has estimated annual fees of pounds 200,000, was awarded after a three-way pitch (PR Week, 18 August).
The agency replaces four-year incumbent Firefly, which declined to repitch.
A team of five will work on the account, headed by group MD Clare Moran.
She reports to Novell PR manager Joanne Hughes.
Porter Novelli's brief is to communicate Novell's One Net e-commerce strategy to core audiences such as industry analysts, IT directors, CEOs and management consultants, said Moran.
Novell, with global revenues of pounds 412 million for the first half of 2000, retains Hill and Knowlton on a pan-European PR brief, which is unaffected by the review.
The Porter Novelli Convergence Group was created at the beginning of this year, following the merger of the technology practice at Porter Novelli International (PNI) and its fellow Omnicom brand, hi-tech specialist Copithorne and Bellows.
