Professional and financial services PR consultancy Spada won the account via a competitive pitch process.
Wates had previously used Madano Partnership for PR support on a project basis.
Spada will support the firm’s corporate profile and aims to boost its reputation among individual stakeholders and target audiences. A key component of the brief will be to promote the firm as a sustainable property developer.
Wates was one of only ten companies to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2011 for its CSR credentials and was the only construction firm recognised.
Gavin Ingham Brooke, chief executive of Spada, said: ‘Wates is one of the UK’s most highly regarded construction companies, with a forward-looking business structure, strong ambitions for growth and a deep social commitment. It is Wates’ philosophy "of making a lasting difference to communities" that made us so keen to work with them.’
The firm consists of four main business units – construction, living space, retail and interiors. Wates recently announced a 4 per cent rise in turnover to £985m in its 2010 annual results.
Paul Drechsler, chairman and CEO of Wates, stated: ‘During the pitch process the Spada team demonstrated a thorough understanding of Wates' corporate brand, the marketplace in which we operate, and the objectives of our different business units.’
