Deloitte turns to Catchline for its PR in Scotland

Deloitte and Touche has hired Catchline Communications as its retained PR agency for Scotland.

Deloitte and Touche has hired Catchline Communications as its retained PR agency for Scotland.

Catchline will handle PR and media relations from its Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy offices, with directors Allan Buchan and Bill Shaw heading the account. They report to Gill Booles, marketing manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The agency will work with the London-based in-house team. 'Our remit is to 'tartanise' national releases, and give them a Scottish spin,' said Shaw.

Deloitte has been without an agency since its contract with the Communications Business ended before Booles joined.

According to Booles, a perception study commissioned a year after Deloitte merged with independent accountancy firm RMD contributed to the decision to appoint an agency. She said: 'We also looked at what was happening externally - the changes in the Scottish media, for example.'

After inviting several agencies to pitch, including London-based national agencies, Catchline was shortlisted along with Harrison Cowley and FMS.

Deloitte retains two other PR agencies: Golley Slater for its Cardiff office, and Robson Brown PR for Newcastle.
