Wendy Wu has appointed Lotus UK on a year-long retainer to handle its UK PR following a six-way pitch. The win marks the first time Lotus is venturing into the Asia travel market.
Lotus will focus on raising awareness of the brand, increasing customer retention and creating a new type of customer for the brand.
Targeting travel trade press and consumer media, it will implement loyalty schemes such as offering vouchers to repeat customers, and create customer dedicated events that will stem from affiliation marketing with other businesses such as travel agents and restaurants.
Hills Balfour is thought not to have repitched for the account.
The account will be headed by director Jules Ugo, who will be supported by senior account manager Kate McWilliams. They will report to MD Manuel Mascarenhas and marketing manager Nimali Samarasinha.
Wendy Wu Tours is a tour operator for the Indo-China region, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, India and Sri Lanka. It works with local partners to give UK travellers an authentic experience of the region.
Lotus UK also handles PR for Great Brazil Express, Ibiza Tourist Board and the Spanish Tourist Board.
