10 June: Big Brother auditions begin Old Trafford, Manchester. Auditions kick off for the upcoming series of Big Brother, which was cancelled by Channel 4 after 11 years, but now has a new home on Channel 5.

16 June: Celebrity Dad of the Year announced. Sponsored by Premier Inn. This year Elton John (pictured) and partner David Furnish are the first gay parents to be shortlisted. Other candidates include James Corden, Wayne Rooney, Jeff Brazier and Michael McIntyre, alongside last year's winner Peter Andre.

17 June: Premier League 2011/12 fixtures announced. Fixtures for the 2011/12 Premier League and Football League season announced, along with Scottish fixtures.

18 June: London Cycle Challenge begins. The London Cycle Challenge, in which cyclists record the number of miles covered in a week, kicks off. The TfL-run event aims to raise awareness of cycling.

22 June: RAC report on motoring. The motoring services company publishes its annual insight into the views of UK drivers.

23 June: White Tie & Tiara Ball Old Windsor. The 13th annual White Tie & Tiara Ball hosted by Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish to raise funds for the Elton John Aids Foundation.

28 June: Graduate Recruitment Survey. The Association of Graduate Recruiters publishes its biannual barometer of the graduate job market in the UK.
