1. Last week Weber Shandwick client MasterCard broke the world record for the longest picnic table, built to support MasterCard's partnership with The Big Lunch, a get-together for neighbours.

2 After 30 years in PR, College Hill's senior consultant Philip Dewhurst has won a top award for his blues band the Butchers. Sadly, it was for the band's poster, which was recognised by the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators. Why? It was designed by top illustrator Brian Grimwood, who happens to be the band's bass player.

3 Peregrine Communications has expanded its team by appointing Perry, a peregrine falcon, to join its alternatives team, responsible for avian procreation. Founder and CEO Anthony Payne said: 'He is ideal as a corporate mascot solution, as he will work for chicken feed - quite literally - and the odd dead rodent, of course.'
