Public Sector: The Public Sector Week

Westminster City Council director of communications and strategy Alex Aiken has written this week's public sector column.

NHS London communications manager Matt Adcock has been made director of communications at The London School of Theology. LST, the largest evangelical bible college in Europe, has around 1,350 students worldwide. Graduates include Archbishop George Carey. Adcock said: 'LST's academic faculty are some of the finest thinkers in Europe. If Jesus was here I'm sure he'd be using Facebook and his iPhone to communicate - we'll be doing that more at LST over the coming months.'

Surrey county council has asked private sector companies to submit tenders to provide superfast broadband to up to one fifth of homes and businesses in its bid to promote Surrey as a business hub. The aim is to give every home and business in Surrey fibre-optic broadband by 2013. The council is also preparing to ask for bids to provide a superfast network for Surrey's public sector organisations.
