Quill was founded in 2000 and is a specialist financial services shop led by founder Fiona Harris. The agency will continue to operate under the Quill name and will relocate to Buchanan’s offices.
The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Buchanan chairman Richard Oldworth commented: ‘Their expertise within the investment and wealth management area is the perfect complement to our existing financial services offer and we see excellent cross referral potential between our companies.’
Buchanan has traditionally focussed on traditional financial PR and investor relations work, building a strong reputation in the natural resources sector. The agency has emerged as one of the industry leaders for AIM clients, but is understood to be keen to target bigger companies.
Buchanan is led by MD Bobby Morse, who took over day-to-day running from Oldworth in March 2010 when the latter became chairman.
The acquisition is designed to enable the combined agency to compete more evenly with bigger financial services players, such as Lansons, FD and MHP Communications.
Quill’s current client roster includes BNP Paribas Investment Partners, Cazenove Capital Management and M&G.
