Edelman PR Worldwide has created a new position to co-ordinate its global healthcare operation's European arm.
Mark Chataway joins next month as chairman of the European healthcare practice. He arrives from the post of chairman at Interscience Europe, the healthcare PR firm he founded in 1993 and which has since been bought by Manning Selvage and Lee.
He will report to Nancy Turrett, president and global director of the healthcare division, and to Rosanna D'Antona, president of Edelman Europe.
Prior to founding Interscience Europe, Chataway spent five years at Hill and Knowlton as MD of Eurosciences, health and technology and as head of its environmental and crisis PR units.
He spent two years in New York with specialist healthcare agency Van Vechten and Associates before joining H&K and was a broadcast journalist at a CBS-owned station in Atlanta, Georgia, before that.
Edelman's healthcare practice brought in global fees of over pounds 20 million last year.
Chataway will sit on Edelman health's global executive committee focusing on innovating products and services.
'The healthcare market is transforming at a rapid pace. Our focus is to help clients become a vital part of an increasingly patient-powered marketplace,' Turrett said.
