Voluntary Sector: IoF appoints comms chief

The Institute of Fundraising has appointed a new director of marketing and comms to shake up the membership group's comms strategy.

Simon Morrison joins in a six-month interim role with a brief to prepare a new comms strategy focused on increasing the body's membership.

He joins from the Home Office, where he was head of stakeholder engagement in another freelance role. He has worked at a number of membership groups such as the National Trust, where he was head of comms.

The Institute of Fundraising currently has 5,000 individual members and more than 300 organisation members.

Morrison said: 'There's a common focus on growing the institute's membership and maintaining its relevance in the face of these economic times - from a comms perspective, demonstrating the benefits of membership to individual fundraisers and organisations.'
