A monthly publication for the UK's 1.6 million self-employed launches this week.
Owned by London-based Mongrel Worlds, alodis is the first of several planned publications for niche sectors. The next two, as yet untitled, are for graduates and working parents. Mongrel, which is funded by venture capital, will also act as a lobbying agent for the groups it targets.
alodis is available free for the next six months by registering at alodis.com, although the cover price is pounds 2.50. Another 180,000 will be distributed in The Independent on 10 March.
It is published by John Brown, where Chris Dunkerley is editor-in-chief of the project.
The magazine's emphasis is on practical help such as dealing with late payment and tax. The first issue includes an interview with chef Marco Pierre White.
