Deloitte Consulting has handed its UK PR to Citigate Technology. The agency was appointed after a review process that originally involved up to 20 agencies, to replace three-year incumbent Cohn & Wolfe.
'There were a lot of changes in the market place and we wanted to see what the (PR) competitors were offering,' said Dave Higgins, Deloitte Consulting head of brand development - Europe.
He added that the decision came after Deloitte in the US announced its appointment of Citigate Dewe Rogerson late last year as part of a review.
At the same time, Deloitte has also hired Citigate's French partner AKKA.
That agency, which was appointed after a two-way pitch, coincidentally replaces Cohn & Wolfe's French affiliate Kendo.
Citigate and AKKA will both work on a remit to provide B2B and media relations PR support.
'The UK and France are strategically important - France is a central priority for Deloitte in Europe and the UK is a strong market,' said Higgins.
'The key areas we are looking to for PR support are financial services and telecoms,' he added.
At Citigate, account director Jean Maxwell will head the account, reporting to Higgins, who is based in Brussels.
