CAMBRIDGE, MA: Chime Communications is to enter the US market for the first time.
The company, chaired by Tim Bell, has acquired LNS Communications, an independent Boston-area technology PR firm, in a deal worth up to pounds 11m over three years.
Chime has grown in the last two years with a raft of UK buys, including Harvard PR, Insight and most recently consumer shop QBO (PRWeek, 10 November 2000). The firm is understood to be eyeing more US technology firms and corporate and financial specialists.
Bell said the group is trying to build an integrated network of 'super niche businesses. We're not trying to be Interpublic, WPP or Omnicom.
We just want to be of sufficient size to make a difference in the marketplace,' he said.
LNS was previously affiliated to Harvard for four years. The agency's 30 staff handle clients including Motorola. It joins Chime Online, but senior staff Wendy Lavallee and Rich Nagele remain president and CEO.
