The editor of emap's now-defunct music magazine Select is to join a TV music channel.
Alexis Petridis will take up his post as producer on Flextech's Scene One in January. Although he already presents a show on the channel, this is Petridis' first full-time foray into TV.
Flextech, part of Telewest since April, provides content for channels such as Living, Bravo, Trouble and Challenge TV as well as Scene One, which moves to the Sky Digital platform next year.
Petridis was appointed in 1999 to handle Select's April 2000 relaunch.
But the attempt to broaden editorial content to include sectors such as hip-hop and R&B, while retaining its indie core, did not work.
Predictably, Select's demise is being blamed on lack of reader response rather than any lack of quality in the product.
Select staff are being dispersed elsewhere around emap, Petridis said.
They will work on Mojo, Q and 'special projects'.
