Neil Martinson, former COI director of comms, has resurfaced as interim director of comms at Diabetes UK. Martinson left the COI in January and previously had stints as director of comms at the Food Standards Agency.

Audience Communications has been appointed by NHS Outer North East London to handle a social marketing campaign to raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer and encourage older people to see their GP early. The campaign was funded by the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative.

The Department of Health has stated that no decisions have yet been made on the proposed development of a national social enterprise named 'Commsorg', following reports that it is being set up to act as a central comms resource for the new GP consortia. A DH spokeswoman said: 'Work on the shape of comms services for consortia and the NHS Commissioning Board is ongoing.'
