Facilities management group Jarvis is looking to recruit a new director for its upgraded corporate communications function.
The vacancy was originally filled earlier this year when Graham Read was appointed director of public affairs in May. However within six weeks Read had returned to former employer Costain Construction, as head of PR.
The position Read held has since been upgraded as a result of internal restructuring.
The company, which historically has been associated with the construction industry, and is best known for its railway maintenance contracts, today describes itself as a leading 'asset management outsourcing group'.
This is a move which since March has been reflected through its formal reclassification in the FTSE International, from Other Construction to the Business Support Service sector.
Since the summer Jarvis has been reorganised into three operating divisions: infrastructure services, which encompasses both its retail and traffic systems operations; accommodation services; and systems and technology.
According to head of human resources, Bernard Westbrook, the new director of corporate communications will report directly to the group chief executive Paris Moayedi and 'will provide pan support to all three divisions as well as investor relations for the company.'
Earlier this year (PR Week, 17 March) Jarvis appointed GCI Financial to replace Ludgate on a financial PR and investor relations brief.
