Flack: Hacks vs Flacks footie match

This year's Hacks vs Flacks footie match last Sunday saw the journos nick a 5-4 victory. Flack captain James Melville-Ross, a director at FD, is clear about what went wrong for the PR professionals. His match report, obtained by Flack, states that his team's centre-backs, both new fathers, looked 'as though they could have done with a few more hours' kip'. To whom could he be referring? Step forward sleepy defensive duo Neil Daugherty, of Blue Rubicon, and, er, James Melville-Ross ... Jonathan Williams of Salient Public Affairs has been arguing with Simon Gentry of fellow lobbying firm Campbell Gentry. The row concerns £7,000 of invoices. People are angry. Having seen the emails, Flack has a feeling that Salient Public Affairs and Campbell Gentry may not be working together so closely in the future ...

Another lobbyist in a foul mood last week was Bell Pottinger's lobbying boss Peter Bingle, after his agency lost its lucrative account with BAE Systems to rival Portland. 'You don't really understand our industry,' he snapped at one PRWeeker, who joked that Portland boss Tim Allan could be 'the new Tim Bell'. But what was the real reason for Bingle's humour failure? Sources tell us that the lobbyist's skiing holiday in the French Alps last week was ruined by a bad back and a lack of snow. Cheer up Peter, there's always Milton Keynes Snowdome!
