Opinion: Letters of the Week - The UK nuclear industry missed its chance to influence opinion

Sadly the UK nuclear industry missed a big opportunity during the aftermath of the Fukushima plant disaster (Features, 8 April).

As every comms professional knows, there is a very short time span after an incident in which you can influence opinion.

Nobody from the companies involved in new-build reactors, the operating companies, the nuclear fuel manufacturers, or the experts in decommissioning spoke up to reassure us.

If the UK nuclear industry is serious about being a big part of the energy mix it should start speaking up.
