Hammersmith & Fulham has axed its controversial H&F News magazine after the council agreed a deal with Trinity Mirror Southern to publish council advertising.

The agreement will see public notices and other display advertisements published in the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle every week.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council leader Stephen Greenhalgh said: 'We have been proud to have published H&F News but this is a positive step forward as we have secured an effective way of communicating our news, while delivering value for money.'

The initial six-year advertising contract comes after a European-wide tender that attracted just one bid.

The agreement follows the implementation of the Government's new publicity code, designed to restrict the frequency of council publications.
