Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Sir Simon Milton, London's deputy mayor and the first MD of APCO Worldwide in the UK, died this week at the age of 49.

APCO's international president Brad Staples was among those paying tribute, describing Miller as 'an exceptional professional with a charming sense of humour'.

Hanover has been appointed by Nomura as its retained UK public affairs agency, following a competitive pitch. The Japanese investment bank previously appointed Fleishman-Hillard to provide its first retained public affairs support in London and Brussels, in 2009.

MHP Communications is to expand into Brussels, with a new office headed by Alisdair Gray, a former EU lobbyist at the British Retail Consortium.

Thomson Reuters has appointed Morgan Stanley head of EMA government relations Nick Collier as head of European public affairs.

Brussels FD Blueprint has hired Hans Hack to head its financial services practice. Hack moves next month, having been financial attache with the Netherlands Permanent Representation to the EU since 2008.

Edelman has brought in former Conservative HQ staffer Jessica Lennard as an account director. She joins from Hanover.
