The consumer electronics retailer with six stores in the UK formerly used Freud Communications, which helped to launch the brand in the UK last year.
The account is understood to be worth about £200,000. The team will report to Best Buy UK PR manager Lisa Hancox.
Hancox said: ‘The team immediately grasped the DNA of our brand and our aim to be the best in entertainment, service and technology. Our existing stores continue to grow and five new grand openings this year alone will see us ramping up our media activity.
‘As we build our brand and business in the UK, Edelman’s creative approach makes the team a stand-out addition to our business.’
Best Buy UK is seeking to boost brand awareness amongst consumers and the media as it prepares to open another five stores across the country this year.
The brief includes operating a proactive consumer and corporate press office, publicising its grand opening programme for new stores as well as establishing all stores and its website as the destination retailer for technology and related services.
The agency will also promote commercial partnerships and other business developments.
The UK team will also work alongside their counterparts at Edelman in North America, where the agency represents Best Buy in the US.
