Flack: (Saving) on expenses - Cantina Laredo, WC2H

Reviewer: Carole Scott, director, Bottle PR.

What is it good for?

The margaritas are huge and the Mexican food is gourmet rather than 'street'. Outdoor tables make it super-popular in the summer. It also has a private dining room for a quieter space.

Signature dishes

Guacamole is made at your table and packed with lime, coriander and a spicy kick. The chipotle sauce (served with a number of the prawn and chicken dishes) is smoky and the Camaron Poblano Asada is a traditional feast combining steak, prawns and poblano pepper.

Who's the boss?

This is a family concern: Jackie Ginsberg works with her three sons, Dean, Ryan and Shaun. All in their twenties, the brothers are charming and welcoming.

Tips please?

If you're taking a client, call ahead and ask to be put at the top of the waiting list when you arrive. The only booking is for private dining.

What's the damage?

Starters are £3.75-£18.95. Mains start at £9.95, and go up to £27.95 for the mighty Fiesta Grill. Most expensive lunch main course is £15.95.
