1. The Resonate team had to dust off their tuxes and ballgowns while handling PR around Mikhail Gorbachev's glittering 80th birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall last week. Resonate boss Michael Frohlich says: 'The most mind-blowing moment for me was the great meeting of minds - Goldie Hawn, Gorbachev, Sharon Stone and Shimon Peres, sharing a joke, while around them I battled with VIPs and photographers.'

2. Intrepid PRCA members reached the 5,895m summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Chairman's Charity, Leonard Cheshire Disability, in March. The group was led by David Gallagher of Ketchum Pleon and Loretta Tobin of Grayling UK.

3. In New York, the great and good of PR gathered for Harold Burson's 90th birthday. Dr Reginald Watts (honorary CIPR fellow and former Burson-Marsteller CEO) flew out to join 400 guests plus well-wishers from around the world who sent videos. Watts reports that the still-working Burson told guests: 'I am not just glad to be here. At my age I am glad to be anywhere ...'
