The importance of proactive comms from all governments involved in the current conflict in Libya cannot be understated (Opinion, 1 April). An unwavering commitment by global military powers to ensure the public is provided with the most accurate and pertinent information it needs to make informed decisions will be a key factor in rebuilding the public's trust in government.

The counterpoint is that we must respect the military's often justified need to keep certain sensitive information confidential.
