Financial services PR specialist Quill Communications has secured an account worth up to pounds 100,000 with Investec Asset Management.
The agency - formed less than a year ago by former Biddick Harris MD Fiona Harris and director Gordon Puckey - won the retail brief from incumbent Penrose Financial following a three-way pitch believed to have included Financial Dynamics.
Penrose, which was hired over three years ago, continues to work for Investec Asset Management (IAM) on the institutional side.
IAM, the asset management arm of South African bank Investec, has tasked Quill with all retail UK and European PR.
Quill director Puckey said: 'Our responsibility is going to be building the profile of the brand in specialist trade media and the financial press.'
The Quill account team, led by Puckey, reports to IAM managing director Jamie MacLeod. MacLeod said the company wanted a different PR approach for retail, but was 'not unhappy' with Penrose's performance.
He added that one of Quill's first tasks will be 'to help position Investec Asset Management for the forthcoming ISA season in the UK'.
IAM provides a range of UK domestic and international portfolio management, investment services and products. It has key offices in London, Dublin, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Hong Kong, Pasadena and Guernsey, with a total staff of 400.
According to figures up to June last year, IAM managed assets in excess of pounds 16bn.
Parent company Investec Group is ranked one of the top 20 companies on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and among the world's top 300 banks.
