Beattie Media wins HP corporate PR brief

Beattie Media has bagged Hewlett-Packard's prestigious pounds 750,000 business-to-business and corporate PR account to add to its existing HP consumer brief - making it the firm's sole UK PR agency.

Beattie Media has bagged Hewlett-Packard's prestigious pounds 750,000 business-to-business and corporate PR account to add to its existing HP consumer brief - making it the firm's sole UK PR agency.

The agency was awarded the account following a four-way pitch against Hill & Knowlton, and incumbents AUGUST.ONE Communications and Noiseworks.

Hewlett-Packard repitched the accounts - which cover both the company's enterprise and storage businesses - following a decision to consolidate UK PR.

A team of 15 will work on the HP account, led by Amanda Groty, partner in charge of Beattie's London office, and associate partner Paula Simmons.

One of Beattie's main tasks will be to help promote HP's new corporate brand, Invent, as well as product and sponsorship PR.

Groty said they will also work on promoting HP's lab in Bristol, which is the company's second largest research and development centre outside its Palo Alto headquarters in California.

The agency reports to Borel Setten, marketing director for HP's Business Customer Sales Organisation.

'HP is undergoing one of the most exciting periods in its 60-year history with our alignment under the HP Invent brand and we want to partner with inventive agencies,' said Setten.

Beattie was first appointed by HP for consumer work last July (PRWeek, 25 June 1999).
