MHP's health division has been charged with providing a full range of public affairs, PR and policy consultancy support for Cerner, which specialises in healthcare devices and software.
Simon Hill, Cerner's head of corporate affairs, suggested that under the reforms set out in the recent NHS white paper, health services would undergo an 'information revolution' that would require them to modernise IT systems.
'Cerner will be a key partner across the NHS,' said Hill, who was previously an account manager at Insight Public Affairs. 'Our solutions and services can help the NHS deliver key parts of the Government's health reform agenda by putting patients and healthcare professionals in the driving seat.'
Cerner provides a range of technology devices and IT programmes that help doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners to share up-to-date patient information in real-time and streamline information across an organisation.
The company claims that its digital products can help with healthcare administration, reduce costs and improve patient safety by eliminating error.
Mike Birtwistle, MD of MHP Health, said the Government's reforms 'won't work' unless the NHS gets its information infrastructure right at every level. 'Cerner has the right sort of expertise to help achieve this,' he said.
MHP, which won the retained account after a three-way pitch, is to target national, local and trade media.
