Flack: (Saving) on expenses - Le Garrick, London WC2

Reviewer: Rachel Francis, associate director, Ketchum Pleon

- What is it good for?

Le Garrick is an intimate French bistro with bags of character and amazing food set in the centre of Covent Garden. Downstairs is divided into booths, making it perfect for client lunches or quiet chats with journalists. There is also outside seating for hotter weather and clandestine people watching.

- Signature dishes

Being quintessentially French, the Moules Frites and Onglet Sauce Poivre are cooked to perfection. The cuts of steak are generous, as are all of the meals.

- Who's the boss?

Head chef is Henri Ahoune, who has previously worked with Tony Howorth, the renowned head chef at The Ivy.

- Tips please?

Book a booth downstairs for a relaxed and private experience. Ask the waiting staff to recommend one of the French wines from Le Garrick's extensive list.

- What's the damage?

The two-course set menu is £12.95. Main courses range from £10.95 to £18.95.
