London Fire Brigade has reported that the number of incidents it was called out to in 2010 fell by 12 per cent, compared with 2009. This followed increased safety campaigning in the run-up to 5 November, during a period when the brigade was on strike. Marketing activity cost £67,000.

The Government's advice to Britons to flee Bahrain has been deemed successful by public sector comms experts. But the messaging has been criticised as too 'reactive', by former COI PR director Oliver Hickson, who is now running Hickson Communications. This comes after widespread criticism in the media over Foreign Secretary William Hague's approach to getting Britons out of Libya during the uprising.
