The under-threat COI has selected Durrants as the single central supplier for government press cuttings.
Durrants has been brought in as part of a new framework agreement to reduce the costs and duplication associated with press cuttings.
The new set-up is expected to make savings of 40 per cent, but is bad news for cuttings agencies.
It means that existing contracts with Vision, City Press, Press Cuttings, Macmillan Media, Mediagen, Precise and Press Data will end on 31 March.
The press cuttings framework agreement will be accessible to all government departments and wider public sector organisations.
All central government departments will be able to receive cuttings online. Currently, about 25 per cent of cuttings are provided digitally.
