O'Connor is new Channel 5 head of entertainment

Channel 5 has hired Tracey O'Connor to replace outgoing head of entertainment publicity Greg Day.

O'Connor, who takes up her new post at Channel 5 next month, is currently factual press officer at United Broadcasting Entertainment.

She will be responsible for the publicity of high-profile shows including Jerry Springer, It's A Knockout, Family Affairs and the return next year of the former ITV Australian soap, Home and Away.

O'Connor will report to head of press and corporate affairs Paul Leather.

'Tracey's appointment is a result of several changes,' said Leather.

Day has left after three years to start his own consultancy, Greg Day PR, but will continue to work for Channel 5 on a freelance basis.
