The new idea hopes to attract entrepreneurs either who have already set up a small business or who have ideas still in development.
The unit will be headed by Ian Priest, one of the founders of advertising agency VCCP, who will work with a panel of senior figures from both within Chime and the wider comms industry to select and nurture new services that can be turned into businesses.
Shortlisted businesses will then be asked to pitch their business plans in person to the panel.
Priest commented: ‘The communications marketplace is changing at an unprecedented rate which means more opportunities than ever for entrepreneurs to create and build new offerings.’
Lord Bell, chairman of Chime added: ‘In such a dynamic sector, organic growth isn’t just about growing existing business, it’s about adding new services relevant to our clients’ needs. As a proven entrepreneur, Ian has the right credentials to spot and then nurture winners.’
