There was a good turnout for GPC’s office-warming bash last
The lobbying shop has moved to No 4 Millbank, home to the political TV
crews for the BBC, Sky and ITN.
Political celebrities were on hand to support staff and clients in
welcoming the agency to its new abode. Former Tory Health Secretary
Virginia Bottomley seemed to be enjoying herself, as did ex-Lib Dem PR
chief Des Wilson.
Agriculture secretary Nick Brown showed his face, along with countless
young lobbyists all milling around, trying to get noticed.
PR Week almost didn’t attend, since our invitation came addressed to the
rival PA Newsletter. Once there, however, MD Peter Bingle was every inch
the genial host.
He is said to have a new spring in his step since the move, having
abandoned the splendid isolation of his private office to join his
minions on the open plan floor. And just think of how much he can save
by trading down to a shorter whip.
