- Sony Ericsson has promoted Cathy Davies to global head of comms and PR following the news last week that comms boss Aldo Liguori is stepping down. Davies was head of brand and strategy at the firm and has taken up her new role with immediate effect.

- FD has appointed Capital MS&L director Neil Doyle as a London-based MD in its financial services practice. He joined Capital in 2002 and helped establish the agency's Middle East and North Africa operations.

- Perform Group, a digital sports media group backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik, has brought in Tulchan Communications to handle PR for its £500m London float.

- Caparo Energy, an operator of wind farms in India, has called in Pelham Bell Pottinger to manage its financial and corporate comms. The agency has also been appointed by SocialGO, the AIM-listed social networking firm.

- Landmark, a boutique offices provider, has chosen Redleaf Polhill to act as its PR adviser. Redleaf Polhill will launch Landmark's unbranded serviced office centre at Heron Tower, in the City of London.

- Standard Chartered has hired RBS' Global Markets head of media relations Piers Townsend as head of business and corporate comms, Middle East and North Africa, based in Dubai.
