Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

A parliamentary motion calling for statutory regulation of the lobbying industry to be brought forward had yet to be signed by any Tory MPs as PRWeek went to press.

The Early Day Motion tabled by Labour MP Austin Mitchell had just 13 signatures as of 15 March.

TLG has signed up The Co-operative Group public affairs manager James O'Leary as a senior consultant. O'Leary reports to head of public affairs Katharine Walters. He will join TLG in April and will advise clients Asda, Kingfisher and Flybe.

Green Issues Communications and Communique, both part of College Public Policy, have merged to become Green Issues Communique.

Ben Pickering, who left recruitment firm Hanson Search last year, has launched comms agency The Political Consultancy.

Insight Public Affairs account director Olly Kendall has left the agency to freelance. Kendall was deputy press secretary to then Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy from 2004 to 2006.

Westminster Advisers is to provide pro-bono public affairs strategic advice to Blue Sky Development and Regeneration, one of Downing Street's two chosen charity partners for 2011. The charity helps provide jobs for ex-offenders.
