Davies was previously head of brand & strategy at the company and has taken up her new role with immediate effect.
PRWeek revealed that Liguori has decided to step down after seven years at the company.
He will remain at Sony Ericsson until end October during which time he will manage the transition and operate as a communications advisor to the global team.
Davies will report into the president & CEO Bert Nordberg and will oversee the current PR team, including head of external comms and analyst relations, Holly Rossetti, who joined the company in January 2011 from Amdocs.
Davies joined Sony Ericsson in 2008 from Ford Motor Company where she held both local market and regional roles.
She commented: ‘I’m delighted to be leading the Communications and PR team at a time when the company is moving into such an energising phase both as a business and from a communications perspective. I look forward to working with the team to build on the strong foundations already in place.’
Meanwhile, Steve Walker, current acting head of market, has been confirmed as global head of marketing.
