HONG KONG: Global express forwarding company DHL has named a new
head of PR for its Asia-Pacific and Middle East region.
Kaori Ikegaya joins from Deloitte Consulting where she was the company’s
internal communications director covering the Asia-Pacific region and
Ikegaya replaces Geoffrey Bye who left to join internet start-up
OneAsia.com six months ago. The role has been expanded to include
advertising and given the broader title of communications manager.
The company retains Burson-Marsteller for PR across Asia. Ikegaya’s PR
brief is for internal and external communications in 51 countries. She
will also manage DHL’s relationship with advertising agency DDB
Worldwide, reporting to DHL’s regional marketing director Phil Yang.
DHL began a new global advertising relationship this year with a new
campaign planned for launch in the autumn.
’My first responsibility will be to oversee the roll out of the new
advertising campaign,’ said Ikegaya. She added that a junior member of
staff will be recruited to the advertising department, reporting to
Ikegaya, to enable her to focus more of her time on PR issues.
DHL is the world’s leading courier firm with sales of over pounds 3
billion in 1999.
