Lewis beats two to PR for Thus and Demon Internet

Telecommunications group Thus, parent company of the Demon Internet brand, has appointed Lewis PR on six-figure fees.

Telecommunications group Thus, parent company of the Demon Internet

brand, has appointed Lewis PR on six-figure fees.

The agency was appointed after a three-way pitch to handle all trade PR,

promoting Thus’ range of data, telecommunications and customer contact

service aimed at the UK business sector.

Lewis will also run a separate campaign for the company’s Demon brand -

one of the UK’s largest ISPs and web hosts serving residential and

business markets.

Vice-president of operations, Ilona Hitel, will lead two Lewis teams of

eight, reporting to Thus head of corporate communications, Claire

Rowberry.

’We will implement e-commerce services and the new ADSL high-speed

network technology in the related high-tech media. There may also be

scope for some international roll outs across northern Europe,’ said

Hitel.

The account comes after Thus hired Bell Pottinger Communications-owned

Green Moon - rebranded last month (PRWeek, May 28) to Bell Pottinger

Public Relations - to handle PR for Demon, after a three-way pitch

against Firefly and Lewis last October.

’Green Moon, as it was then, was on the list for the retainer account,

but Thus decided against keeping all its work within one agency,’ said

Chime Communications CEO Tim Bell.
